11 Most Notorious Gaming Sequel Set-Ups That Never Followed Through
5. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II The Sith Lords
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II The Sith Lords was a rushed game, but for the most part a brilliant continuation of the first effort. It became infamous, however, for its frustratingly ambiguous ending, in which basically nothing is resolved, and we're left hanging on for a third game (which by most accounts will never happen). If you took the light side, you're left searching for the protagonist of the first game, Revan, but if you took the dark side, you become a Sith Lord. After spending 20-30 hours getting immersed in this world, would it have killed Obsidian to try a little harder with the ending? To be fair to them, they were probably confident that a third game would come to pass (c'mon, it's Star Wars!), but due to difficult internal issues with LucasArts, the third game was cancelled, and fans have been left in limbo ever since. This game was custom-built for an epic finale, one that we've been painfully deprived of.
