11 Reasons Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare Has Saved The Series

3. Meaningful Progression

The multiplayer 'unlockables' progression in the original Modern Warfare is often cited as one of the main reasons that so many people got addicted to the compelling multiplayer. Fast-forward a few years, and Advanced Warfare has brought this to a whole new level. Along with the usual unlockable weapons, perks and attachments, Advanced Warfare features far more detailed character customisation than that seen in last year's Ghosts. Similarly to games like Team Fortress 2, it's now possible to be rewarded with special items after matches, such as special cosmetics. One of the biggest additions is the droppable weapons that are variations from the standard guns. Far from being overpowered, these weapons generally sacrifice one thing (such as fire rate) in order to make another aspect stronger (such as damage). It's a simple thing that manages to add to the feeling of 'just one more game,' without completely knocking the balance out.
