7. Genuinely Hard Difficulty
Games are continually evolving, it cant be said that they aren't getting more adventurous and more exciting, but due to mass market appeal they're also getting much easier. Along with the turn of each new generation of gaming consoles, comes a dumbed down version of what went before. For some unexplained reason games are getting easier. For those who dont understand go back and play titles like Ninja Gaiden or Battletoads on the NES. These titles - and many others like it - started off excruciatingly hard and only got more so. There was no 'Easy Mode', no text boxes telling you how to succeed or prompts on when to jump or attack. No, it was just hardcore gamers playing hardcore games.
