11 Times Video Games Did Horror Better Than Movies

2. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis - Running For Your Life

We've all had one of those nightmares where we're being pursued by some unseen lumbering horror, the one dominant force that in the dream-world we know we have to get away from at all costs, regardless of the reason why. In Nemesis that creature is given a name and a face - and it's not pretty. We've already covered what it's like to have an unexpected jump scare your britches off, but when you're aware of exactly what hunts you through the night - as well as the knowledge that you have no hope of taking it on - it's an altogether different experience. Resi's third main entry in the series proved that showing the horror you've heard so much about and are prepping yourself to take on can work wonders, especially when he's introduced in one of the most memorable ways possible - slaughtering a fellow teammate like they was nothing. The titanic lumbering mound of death himself appeared as if at random in certain levels, and it was then up to you to sprint in the opposite direction as you would be pursued across multiple screens and interiors, sometimes ending in having to make a split-second decision that could go gruesomely wrong.
