6. The Master - Fallout

At the end of Fallout, The Vault Dweller must contend with the self-proclaimed Master of the Super Mutants. Believing humanity can only survive their apocalyptic conditions through evolution, the malformed monster intends to unleash a virus on the world, turning everyone into mutants.

When The Vault Dweller tries to stop him, The Master makes it clear he's not going down without a fight. And since this guy is as tough as he is ugly, the player is sure to see the Game Over screen more times than they count during this bout.

Surprisingly, The Master can be defeated, not through force, but diplomacy. If the Vault Dweller picks up Vree's autopsy report and has high Intelligence and Speech, they won't have to lift a finger against this adversary.

By pointing out inconsistencies in The Master's plan, the hyper-evolved entity will begin to doubt himself. After alerting him that his mutants are sterile, the deranged demagogue will demand proof. After showing him the autopsy report, The Master realises his scheme will doom humanity, rather than save it.

Acknowledging his life's work was for nothing, The Master ends his life, allowing the Vault Dweller to bypass the final fight entirely.
