11 Video Games That Are Better If You Suck

2. Mortal Kombat (Series)

Death Stranding
NetherRealm

Even though Mortal Kombat has great fighting mechanics and fluid gameplay, it would've never taken off if it wasn't for its boundless gore. The visceral Fatalities defined Ed Boon and John Tobias' work, turning MK into a lucrative fighting series.

As Mortal Kombat grew in popularity, the violence became more excessive and the finishers more creative. The original game may have only had seven finishing moves but the more recent entries boast hundreds of coup d'etats, including Brutalities, Animalities, Babalities, and Friendships.

These finishers are so entertaining, you often don't mind being on the receiving end of them. In fact, you would only be disappointed upon losing if your rival DIDN'T pulverise you into paste or force-feed you your own entrails.

It's boring if you get finished off with a kick or a measly jab. You want to see eyeballs pop out, bones soar through the sky, and organs implode. Like a Viking, you desire a warrior's death. Or, in the immortal words of the great Hans Moleman, "We paid for blood!" So long as you die in spectacularly bloody fashion, you don't care about losing.
