11 Video Games That Require Hours To Master Their Mechanics
10. Tetris 99
Tetris 99 is a deceptively tricky and hugely addictive game. The Battle Royale style game pits 99 players against each other in a game of Tetris. When you first boot into a game it seems as simple as playing a standard game of Tetris; clear your blocks and have a relaxing time. That's until 15 rows of garbage blocks swamp your field of play and you are out of the game and very confused.
Not only does a player have to think about playing Tetris, but the player has to consider tactics. Do you play more offensively, which will give you a garbage blocks bonus but leave you prone to attack, or play it safe and be defensive?
A player can also choose to either target a player specifically or the board as a whole and consider what pieces to hold for another time. Then, on top of that they have to think about the most effective way of clearing blocks, using t-spins for bonuses. It's an awful lot to think about and will take a player tens of hours of playtime before they can truly master these skills and be the last player standing.
