11 Video Games You Won't Believe Are Almost 20 Years Old
10. Mortal Kombat 3
If the companies and practices of today were behind MK we'd be on Mortal Kombat 22 by now, but as we're only just getting round to Mortal Kombat X, it shows how much restraint Ed Boon and his team have had with their award and tabloid headline-winning franchise, only delivering sequels when the time was right. MK3 would be the last major 2D iteration of the series, and it showed the team were pushing their game engine to the limits. We also saw a few shakeups for traditional character designs that just didn't sit well with long-time fans though; such as Sub Zero ditching his mask and armour for a more stripped-down casual look - but now-favourites Cyrax and Stryker were introduced in return.
