11 Video Games You Won’t Believe Are In Development
5. Call Of Duty Warzone 2 & Modern Warfare 2
The announcement of the latest Call of Duty usually comes with huge fanfare. Recently, Activision has opted to announce new games in their battle royale sping-off Warzone, usually only a couple of months before they're set to release.
This year they've changed tactics, and in February announced that not only will this year see the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, but that Warzone itself will also be getting a sequel.
Though Modern Warfare 2 was to be expected, Warzone 2 is more of a surprise. The original game is still going strong, and recently received a new map alongside the release of the WW2-themed instalment, Vanguard. The issue is though that Warzone was never intended to exist beyond the life of the first Modern Warfare, and limitations of the engine have resulted in issues as other Call of Duty games became integrated with it.
So, Activision is opting for a clean break, building Warzone 2 on a new engine with future support in mind.
On top of this, leaker Tom Henderson has teased that a Call of Duty mobile title is also planned to drop in 2022. That's a lot of Call of Duty coming your way.
