6. The Last Of Us Remake

Metal Gear Solid 6
Naughty Dog

As you'll come to notice, there are a lot of remakes on this list, but this is the most questionable of the lot. Dropped in a report about Sony's failed San Diego studio on Bloomberg last year was the reveal that Naughty Dog's current project is a remake of... The Last Of Us.

Not a port. Not another remaster. A proper, ground-up remake for PS5.

What makes this strange is that the original TLOU is less than a decade old and still holds up massively. The PS4 remaster is hugely playable, but Naughty Dog is pushing ahead on the remake anyway.

So, what can we expect? The original report suggest that the devs are aiming for TLOU 2-style fidelity, and no doubt that sequel's more fluid combat system will be brought over. Whether that changes the level design is yet to be seen - as is whether the developers will make any adjustments to the script or central acting performances.

The latest rumours - from Tom Henderson and VGC - suggest the title is nearly complete, and could drop by the end of the year.

The Last of Us is one of the best games of all time, and this remake might make it even better.
