12 2016 Video Game Gems You Totally Missed

1. Stephen's Sausage Roll

It may look as though all the leftover assets from Final Fantasy VII made love and jumped through the screen, but Stephen's Sausage Roll is actually a devious little puzzler with a deceptively simple premise.

Cast as the titular Stephen on an isolated island, you're tasked with rolling the huge sausages you come across, twice. First to cook one side, then the other. Easy, right?

Not so much. You can only control Stephen by going forward, back and through rotation, with his turning fork pushing said sausages around the screen. Multiple sausages need to be cooked appropriately, and that's before the game starts mixing in environmental puzzles or placement of the grills that effect the sausages themselves.

Look, it's a barmy premise, but one that's masterfully executed. Literally every movement in SSR needs to be exact, making for some of the most brain-twisting puzzles you'll ever come across.

Let's just say, what Stephen's Sausage Roll loses in visual fidelity, it more than makes up for in depth, charm and a solidly quirky personality.
