12 Most Bafflingly Awful Movie Tie-In Games You Ever Played

12. Top Gun (NES)

What It Should Have Been: A dogfight simulator, with you taking down the toughest non-descript foreign enemies, with some comical homo-eroticism thrown in for good measure, and corny 8-bit renditions of Kenny Loggins' and Berlin's iconic tunes. What It Actually Was: An infuriatingly difficult, surprisingly technical flight simulator, in which attempting to land your plane is pretty much akin to how difficult I envision landing an actual plane to be. In trying to land or, in one particularly tricky mission, refuel in mid-air, absolute pin-point precision is required, making me suspect that the game was really designed with the intention of driving up NES controllers sales, given how many must have been thrown across the room during play.
