12 Broken Video Game Bosses We NEED To Call Out
7. Shadow Queen - Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Do not be deceived by the cutesy aesthetic of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. The adorable papercraft design looks like this RPG is geared towards young kids, but even the most experienced gamers will struggle to defeat many of the bosses.
The main antagonist, The Shadow Queen, is exceptionally gruelling, since it's impossible to deal heavy damage. She keeps raising her defence so high, your most powerful moves will only knock off a sliver of health.
With a single slap, she can sap your energy, recouping her strength while diminishing yours. Although blocking her attacks will minimise damage, it's not by much and requires split-second timing. Also, she can recover her health to maximum. Just when you thought The Shadow Queen couldn't be less fair, there's a section of the bout where she's invulnerable to all attacks.
Although a challenging boss can be fun, The Shadow Queen is an utter slog. This multistage battle will take at least a half-hour, even if you're equipped with every Power-Up and health item possible.
No matter how much you were enjoying the game until now, the fun stops the moment this battle begins.
