12 Most Difficult Gaming Moments Of 2013

5. Mefitis - Resogun

Resogun was the sleeper hit of the PS4 for me, because it came out with very little hype, for free no less, and is easily one of the best games on the console. It's an old school shooter in every sense of the word, perhaps most crucially in relation to its difficulty. This is a game that doesn't really stop to explain itself, and to figure out the various abilities your ship is capable of, such as Boost and Overdrive, I had to go online and ask around. That said, the mechanics aren't that difficult to get to grips with, but the level of challenge in this game is absolutely unforgiving. It's a saving grace that the levels generally only take about 10 minutes each to get through, but of course, losing your lives results in a game over and you'll have to try again. The fifth and final level, Mefitis, will test every skill you've attained up to that point, most prominently your ability to juggle offense and defense, to avoid the stream of enemy fire headed your way, while also making the screen less crowded with your most powerful attacks. Even if you make it to the final boss, which is a fair challenge itself, don't expect to make it through on your first, second or third attempt. The boss weaves around the screen, firing tentacles at you with extreme speed, and the only words of advice I have are this - boost. A lot. I still don't know how I beat this one.
