12 GameCube Games That Prove It's The Most Underrated Console Ever

1. Super Smash Bros. Melee

Super Smash Bros. is Nintendo at its absolute, 100% finest, and Melee is arguably the best addition to the series for its time. You could've been enjoying Mortal Kombat and other 2D fighters on your PS2, but the most genuine fun you could find on a console with your friends was Smash Bros. You'd battle it out with a stong host of your favourite Nintendo characters on a range of maps and feel yourself being slowly sucked into playing for hours. There's no such thing as 'one game,' that would invariably mean 'seven or eight games'. The single player mode was interesting, and a good bit of fun, but Smash Bros. was all about the multiplayer. The newest Wii and Wii U additions are crammed full of insane weapons and tricks, and they're excellent to play, but Melee was the game-changer from N64 and simply has to go down as the greatest Gamecube game of all time, exclusive or not. The proof is in the fact that you could pick it up now, 14 years after launch, and still find it to be flawless. Dust off your Gamecubes, rake out your games wallets, and just enjoy history's most criminally overlooked console. What are your favourite GameCube games from over the years that more people need to play? Let us know in the comments!
