Developed by Remedy Entertainment, Alan Wake is the best selling writer and lead protagonist of the game that bears the same name.

In an attempt to overcome his writer's block, Alan and his wife decide to go on vacation. However, his wife disappears, and Alan must try to find her while the events of his latest novel, which he cannot remember writing, start to come to life all around him.

This psychological action-adventure game takes inspiration and pays homage to works from real writers, such as Neil Gaiman, Bret Easton Ellis and Stephen King. This inspiration is clearly illustrated in the otherworldly scenarios Alan finds himself in and the terrifying ordeals he must overcome.

But once again, this is a character that seems to be left at the wayside while their developer goes back and forth between bringing them back in some way or working on something else.

Plans for the games sequel were reworked into another game, Quantum Break, and a potential tv show seems to be stuck in limbo. At this point, you just want Alan to make a return so the poor guy does not get overlooked again and can prove to everyone he is worth their undivided attention.
