"How dare you not mention Final Fantasy VII or X?!" many will scream. Well, because firstly there's no definitive Aerith-or-Tifa choice to be made in that game - they both mean just as much to you throughout - and secondly although Tidus and Yuna's relationship is definitely a stronger contender overall, IX's ending is one of the best of all time, giving you a much more positive idea of where Zidane and Garnett are heading in the future. Almost taking a page out of Star Wars: Episode IV's book you see an intrepid Princess-saving Zidane heading into a castle at the start of the game, only to come across Garnett already fleeing in the opposite direction. The latter is described right from the get-go as "a total babe" and although FF IX's minimalist art style does make the characters appear far younger, Garnett's charms easily wash over you just as much as they do Zidane. The two of them slowly fall for each other over the course of their adventures, and come the final scene it's total fairytale stuff as Zidane reveals he's the one masquerading as the lead in a play Garnett's watching, seemingly returning from the dead at the last moment and topping off their arc nicely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fqv4MhSGMw4#t=1715
