3. The Shark - Jaws (NES)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKKgexcKcTI Everything about Jaws for the NES makes it laughable to think it came from such a landmark masterpiece of horror cinema. The game starts you on the boat traveling around the water; within a minute you will see a large shark fin gliding somewhere on the screen, and when that fin touches the boat you are at the final boss battle already. Next comes the worst side-scrolling boss in history as the shark glides back and forth through a static screen, while you, as a diver, try to shoot it. The game ends when you stab the shark with your boat's bowsprit as it jumps out of water like a bass on a hook or as it did in Jaws: The Revenge (you know, definitely the best movie in the series). Other than the shark's stupid amount of life, which makes it nearly impossible to kill, there's nothing here that brings to mind terror of the deep.
