1. Donkey Kong Country Returns They Actually Made It
Back in the days of the SNES there were a hundred and one platformers to play, ranging from the awesome to the completely and utterly terrible, but only one captured my imagination in a way that completely changed the way I thought about games. Donkey Kong Country came out, oozing with character and humour, and stopped me being the type of person that played games on occasion and turned me into the guy who would sit for hours and hours with nothing but his joy-pad for company. Years later they announced that DKC was to make a return on the Wii, and that promise in itself was enough to make me commandeer a machine (you'll get it back one day, Mum) just to have another go at collecting bananas, K-O-N-G, and seeing off those pesky Kremlins. Of course, The Kremlins didn't show their ugly faces in Returns, but everything else was business as usual. Fears that it would be just another cheap cash-in on the memories of my childhood were put to rest even before the first level ended. Kong and Diddy were back, and that made us all very happy.
