9. Final Chapter - Limbo
Playdead's 2D side-scroller, Limbo, instantly made waves in the gaming community due to it's monochromatic aesthetic, dark atmosphere, and open-ended themes. But another thing that made Limbo stand out was its minimalism. Since the game contains no dialogue or instructions, the player is expected to figure out everything themselves.
However, this gets frustrating in the final chapter since you are given no clues how to complete each puzzle. Not only that, each section in this chapter requires ruthless timing and precision to avoid being killed.
So, without being told what to do, you need to use magnet switches to move platforms around, activate gravity-flipping switches to reach inaccessible areas, dodge gun turrets, and avoid being torn to shreds by the slew of mincers.
The placement of these insta-kill mincers is unfair since you can't see some of them until you fall towards them. By the time you realise you are approaching a death trap, you'll be hacked to pieces before you have a chance to move to safety.
If you know exactly what to do, the final chapter shouldn't take much longer than a minute to complete. But upon your first playthrough, expect to spend up to an hour grinding through it.
