4. Assassin's Creed Started Off As A Prince Of Persia Game

Not that hard to believe, is it?

The game was titled Prince Of Persia: Assassin and was a spin-off of The Sands Of Time. Assassin was set to star a female assassin, and centred around everyone's favourite (heed the sarcasm) gaming mechanic, rescuing and protecting someone else (in this instance, our titular Prince).

While not necessarily surprising, it's still interesting to know that one of modern gaming's most popular franchises started life as a different franchise, and has in fact eclipsed that other franchise entirely.
