After many delays, Breath Of The Wild finally come out as a launch title for the Switch on 3 March 2017, and both the console and game proved to be more than worth the wait.

Unlike previous games in the franchise, BOTW gave players much more freedom when exploring the world and allowed them to complete the story in a non-linear fashion. The game earned massive praise for its variety of content, impressive physics engine and its engaging puzzles and combat system. The game went on to sell over 20 million copies and earned itself multiple Game Of The Year awards.

BOTW’s success was also a huge help in launching the Switch, as Nintendo announced that they surpassed their goal of selling over 2 million units within the first month of launch and had to increase their production capacity as a result.
