5. Tomba

Released in 1998, Tomba (also known as Tombi in some places) was a gorgeous little game set on a group of uncharted islands. A group of evil pigs invade the islands and start to steal valuables from the inhabitants. You play as Tomba, a young purple haired jungle child who is hell bent on getting rid of those damned pigs. The game is a 2D platformer which was great fun to play and was riddled with charm. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly what it was about Tomba that kept you going back to it. Maybe it was his purple hair, maybe it was the colourful backgrounds, or maybe it was our basic human need to jump on pigs.
