12 Phenomenal Indie Games That Deserve Your Attention In 2015

8. Mark Of The Ninja

Put together by a phenomenally gifted developer, Klei Entertainment's take on the stealth genre was to see if it would work in a 2D side-scrolling mould - something that when you see how they've applied their exquisite animation sensibilities to, makes for a game that plays like liquid butter. Smooth transitional animations take you from atop lampposts and treetops down into dumpsters or slinking through alleyways, the knowledge that you can string guards up or skewer them with your sword always being a button away. Gadgets and character abilities roll out on a consistent basis (eventually letting you teleport around levels too), but it's the overall level of polish that'll truly make this stand the test of time. With MGS V flying the flag incredibly high for stealth games once again in 2015 (alongside letting you blow the holy hell out of everything if you wish), MOTN is a return to the genre's roots, one that just feels incredibly responsive to play, and that'll give you a grin of Joker-sized proportions once you finish a level with a trail of skewered bodies in your wake.
