Back in the day; we had to buy expensive magazines to get our hands on demos of upcoming titles and we never read the glossy pages or had any idea of what we might be playing that particular week - surprise, suspense and expense rolled into one.

Nowadays, we only need boot our consoles and head for the online store to get our hands on free demo versions of the latest titles. That's right, they're completely free and no-one can stop you downloading them all.

However, the demos of the past seemed much longer than the modern equivalent and it's safe to say the purpose these days is to convince you to return to the online store and purchase the title - maybe one more playthrough of the demo... to be certain.
