12 Video Game Bosses That Were A Total Letdown
5. Kain - The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
As impressive as Legacy of Kain was, it was the sequel that cemented the dark fantasy saga as one of the PSOne's best IPs. The towering voice performances, action-oriented puzzles, and focus on atmosphere allowed Soul Reaver to become a cult-classic.
Having said that, no one is going to pretend the game didn't end on a sour note. After facing Kain in a standard scuffle, the titular foe runs away, as if he's prepping for the final clash. When our hero, Raziel follows him, a brief cut-scene plays, which is immediately followed by the end credits.
Wait, what the heck happened? Everything ends so abruptly, it feels like a whole chunk of the fight is missing.
Sadly, that's exactly what happened. Due to budget and time restraints, CrystalDynamics dumped a quarter of the project, including weapons, levels, enemies, and yes, even the final boss.
Raziel was meant to face Kain one last time, before absorbing his essence and vanquishing the vampire threat once and for all. Though many of these ideas were reworked into Legacy of Kain: Defiance, it still hurts to watch Soul Reaver's incomplete climax.
