12 Video Games PlayStation Sent Out To Die
7. Inpatient - PS4
When VR became a viable medium, it wasn't long before every company wanted to a piece of the pie. The problem was virtual games regularly suffer from glaring drawbacks, including imprecise controls, limited movements, and making the player vomit incessantly.
However, everything seemed to change when Supermassive Games revealed the Until Dawn prequel, Inpatient, for the PS4 VR. Due to its photorealistic graphics and focus on atmosphere, Inpatient looked set to be the first truly great virtual title.
Despite Inpatient's flawless presentation, the game itself was marred by its sluggish pacing and limited gameplay. There's so much pointless walking around, it feels more like a demo to show off the VR technology rather than a complete game. The way scary creatures pop out at you is so mechanical, it feels like you're in a tacky haunted house attraction.
Unfortunately, the jump-scares are so infrequent, you'll be desperate for them to return. Without them to keep you mildly entertained, all Inpatient has to offer is plodding around corridors over and over. Unless strolling down hallways at the speed of a dead sloth is your cup of tea, there's nothing here to get you excited.
