12 Video Games That Drastically Changed Between Reveal And Release

6. Splinter Cell: Conviction

How about something that changed for the better, for a change?

When Splinter Cell was first revealed in 2007 it was met with unanimous disapproval. The sight of Fisher no longer being a leather-clad, knife-wielding badass and more... angry homeless man? left fans reeling as to the direction of the franchise.

Melee attacks appeared to form the majority of gameplay as enemies were sent pinwheeling across rooms and tables were flipped in an attempt to (assumedly) rein in a wider audience. Naturally, this couldn't have been farther away from where the majestic Chaos Theory and mediocre Double Agent left off, and by the time Sam's latest did show up, these 'action segments' were completely removed in favour of a more stripped down, story-heavy affair.
