You almost feel like you have to apologise to No Man's Sky developers, Hello Games, because 13 people crafting a galaxy from the ground up is genuinely remarkablein every respect.

But that said... there are a number of key features that were shown since 2013 (in particular how the game appeared on Colbert, seen above) that either aren't in the game whatsoever, or are buried to an extraordinary degree.

Reddit has an ongoing list cataloguing such features, but some rather large omissions include fleet-on-fleet factional warfare, crashed freighters, density of flora and fauna combined (as shown above) and most damningly, some sort of 'multiplayer' that should at least boil down to being able to meet up with other players.

Since then we've had many players realise that, 1. The game doesn't actually seem to have a file for a usable character model, and 2. There's actually no netcode present that could put two players in the exact same spot on the exact same planet.

No Man's Sky has only been out for just over a week and there's every possibility Hello Games were going to patch more content in, but for now... there are a number of things in the buildup to launch that just aren't present.
