10. Time Paradox (MGS 3)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me-WHitlw8A Hideo Kojima's attention to detail in his games can get worryingly specific. He somehow knows what weird things players will get up to, and plans accordingly. The best example of this is in MGS3. After beating a young, cocky and extremely annoying Revolver Ocelot, gameplay resumes with players standing right next to his unconscious body. When you consider that a much older Ocelot spent most of his time torturing the player and just generally being evil in MGS 1 and 2, it's easy to understand why a lot of us had the urge to shoot this guy's face off. Giving in to your lust for revenge had the unwanted side-effect of creating a time paradox, ending the game while Colonel Campbell somehow reaches through time itself to give you a proper telling off for breaking the space-time continuum.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
