13 Bold Gaming Predictions For 2019
3. Nintendo Announces The N64 Classic Mini
Over the summer a Nintendo trademark filing seemed to suggest that the N64 Classic Mini was imminently due for release, following the successful launches of the NES and SNES Classic Minis.
However, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime took the wind out of fans' sails last month when he said that the pint-sized hardware wasn't on Nintendo's "planning horizon." Boo.
Still, it doesn't entirely rule out the possibility of the N64 Mini landing in time for Christmas 2019, though those chances are probably diminished if the Switch revision releases next year, for fear of cannibalising holiday sales.
If another year passes without Nintendo exploiting nostalgia for the N64, either by way of a Classic Mini or some Virtual Console-esque content, then they're bafflingly leaving heaps of money on the table.
