13 Gaming Heroes Who Sucked Next To Their Own Sidekicks

3. Booker DeWitt (BioShock Infinite)

2013 must have been Year of the Kickass Female Sidekick in the Chinese calendar with both The Last Of Us and BioShock Infinite being released last year. The latter features Booker DeWitt and his quest to rescue the game's real star, Elizabeth, from captivity. It's a typical 'damsel in distress' scenario but post-rescue, Elizabeth comes into her own. Despite being a grown woman, she explores the world of Columbia with you with a childlike wonder, stopping and interacting with everything she can; having been locked up in a tower for her whole life, it's easy to understand her curiosity. While she doesn't engage directly in combat, Elizabeth doesn't sit idly by either. She'll pop up when you're in dire need of assistance to offer you ammo or health, saving you from running around the area looking for supplies. Her ability to pull objects from other dimensions (through 'tears' in reality) is also unbelievably useful in battle. Best of all, she doesn't take any damage from enemies, preventing Infinite from turning into one big babysitting mission. Amazing. Booker DeWitt might be the unsung hero of BioShock Infinite but Elizabeth is far more important in drawing you into Infinite's world and keeping you there. She's the perfect companion through the surreal, floating world of Columbia and you'll genuinely miss her during the sections of the game where she's away from you. Hopefully one day, all female characters will be treated with this much care.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
