13 Iconic Video Games That Were Sold With Hilariously Terrible Box Art

Nothing says shameless advertising quite like piggybacking off an established franchise's fame to flog a brand new product. Case in point: Mario Kart Wii.

Remember, Mario's karting spin-off for the Big N's market-dominating (how ironic) predecessor to the Wii U is a bonafide video game, not an advertisement. The limited space that one of those flimsily-made plastic cases affords usually dictates that publishers want to use every square inch to show off what's on the disc, but not Ninty, oh no.

Rather than let the racer sell itself on its own merits, Mario and his dearest sibling became unwilling salesmen for the Wii Wheel.

Just look at poor Luigi, he's so bewildered by the whole thing that Mario's forced to lean in and provide some consolatory words.
