Although her death was one of the most shocking gaming moments of all time, it remains so effective to this day because everyone who plays through Final Fantasy VII ends up having the biggest crush on Princess Aerith.

In hindsight though it was definitely the character's good nature that everyone fell in love with, as I'm not sure how anyone could have found any character in the seventh Final Fantasy game attractive.

Especially if you play the version that's just been re-released for the PS4, it's clear to see the reason people crushed on Aerith so hard was down to the quality of the writing, rather than what she looked like.
