7. Journey
If any part of you enjoys taking part in a game that favours at least the illusion of non-linearity over delivering your content in neat little packages, Journey is for you. Outside of its sumptuously gorgeous graphics, theres the implementation of an online cooperative element, however you cannot communicate with your partner outside of making various chime-like noises, alerting them to something youve found within the gameworld, or just out of any sense of companionship along the way. Its a great way of taking out the over-the-top way some people come across online, forcing both players in any given experience to explore the world and relay their findings in an extremely simplistic manner. It also transfers into one of the most subtle-yet-affecting moments later on in the game where your struggle to ascend a particular cliffside is replicated through the increasingly tired sounds your characters make to each other.
