13 Worst Video Games Of 2017 (So Far)
9. Yooka-Laylee
Another attempt to rekindle a certain genre whose heyday was long ago, Yooka-Laylee was Kickstarted into being to literally be the next great 3D platformer - albeit one that would feel like the followup to Banjo-Kazooie we never got.
Now, in execution, this was both the best thing about Yooka-Laylee, and the worst. Because every single design flaw you remember getting annoyed at is still present, though this time, you have to imagine Playtonic Games left those things in for the sake of being 'authentic'.
Bad camera controls, awful checkpoint placement, primitive animation, sticky collision detection, unresponsive movement; all combine to remind you how far something like Insomniac's newest Ratchet & Clank has come, whereas this is entirely stuck in the worst parts of the 90s.
