The TimeSplitters series was a huge hit with console gamers in the early-to-mid 2000s, lauded for its outrageous personality and highly addictive local multiplayer gameplay, eventually taking the action online in 2005's third and final entry, Future Perfect.

TimeSplitters 4 has been demanded by fans for over a decade, and with modern online infrastructure being as robust as it is, it's safe to say that the franchise could win a whole new lease on life were it to be revived.

Why It Will Never Happen: For one, the multiplayer landscape has changed so much since Future Perfect came out, with Call of Duty having such an intense stranglehold over the FPS market, while many developers are obsessed with trying to emulate the glory of Overwatch's hero shooter model.

Plus, with Crytek (who own the rights to the series) giving their approval for the fan-developed remaster TimeSplitters Rewind, it seems they don't see much monetary value in the franchise.

The hardcore fans remain as hopeful as ever, but they'll sadly have to make do with Rewind rather than an official sequel.
