8. Polybius

Prepare to get your noodle baked. Polybius has been an apocryphal urban legend of a video game for almost three decades, but legendary designer Jeff Minter has made it come to fruition with this gloriously retro old-school shooter.

While Polybius is an eye-popping exercise in sensory overload no matter whether you play it in 2D or with the PSVR headset, it's undeniable that the game becomes a wholly different beast in VR, an almost overwhelmingly visually stunning experience that's easily one of the most impressive PSVR creations to date.

It's a surprisingly challenging and lengthy game, especially in later sequences, but its mind-melting quality makes even the tougher levels a gonzo, bonkers blast.

There is nothing like this out on PSVR right now, though if you're epileptic, you will most certainly want to give it a miss.
