14 Most Anticipated Video Game Sequels Of 2017 - Ranked
6. God Of War
Yup, God of War is scheduled to drop this year, being Sony's Cory Barlog stated in December that the whole game was "playable from start to finish". First shown last year, an entirely new, more contemplative Kratos was shown attempting to 'do a Red Dead Redemption' and settle down with a family.
Gameplay was far more narratively focused, showing Kratos hanging out with his son, teaching him how to hunt and kill, before defending the child against some hulking creatures in the surrounding area.
It was such a cool idea, I wrote up a separate think piece on what it could mean for gaming as a medium, but the big takeaway is that combat is completely different, moving away entirely from the 'square, square, triangle, repeat' likes of the past games.
Can an established character and set of motivations survive in a completely different mould? We'll see.
