14 Most Controversial Video Game Moments Of The 2000s

Modern Warfare 2's 'No Russian' stage is a missed opportunity. Instead of receiving praise for its daring approach to game design and raising of real world issues, Infinity Ward was criticised for encouraging players to mow down an endless herd of unarmed civilians while they attempted to flee the business end of a light machine gun.

Critics of the no holds barred display of terrorism apparently forgot that video games had been letting those that play them murder innocents long before Call of Duty came along and yet, this one - optional - little firefight whipped up a faecal-themed storm for all those involved.

If you ask me, Infinity Ward should have made the stage mandatory. It would have had just that little bit more impact because of it.
