14 Most Insane Video Game Dream Sequences

1. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots

Metal Gear Solid 4 was everything a die hard fan could ask for. Wrapping up the story of Solid Snake, Kojima's long awaited return to the iconic hero's tale provided players with a franchise spanning finale, and naturally, there were plenty of references to the previous games tucked away inside Guns of The Patriots.

However more than just a throwaway reference or hidden easter egg, the entire final act of the title essentially served as a homage to the original game in the series. Returning to that title's iconic location, Shadow Moses, Guns of the Patriots took players on a nostalgic rollercoaster through some of the most signature moments in the franchise's history.

But before you arrived at the location in the fourth game, you actually got the chance to play through the opening level of the first Metal Gear Solid again as a flashback dream sequence courtesy of Solid Snake himself.

And it wasn't just revisiting a graphically superior recreation of Shadow Moses like you do later in the game either. Instead, you were actually able to play through the first level of the PS1 classic exactly how it was when it first released.
