MetaCritic Score: 73-81 What It Deserved: 70 To be fair, critics have been fairly generous with the Call of Duty series for some time now, and though Black Ops III is indeed one of the better CoD titles of recent years, it still doesn't really do enough to be a truly great game. Yes, the campaign is longer and more involved, and the multiplayer boasts some fantastic new abilities and killer maps...but the campaign's story is pretty much nonsensical, the verticality isn't taken advantage of particularly well, and the graphics still feel several years behind the times. It's a rock solid FPS, and so a score of around 70 feels apt. An enjoyable game but not one that most players will keep returning to once they've beaten the campaign and Prestiged online.
