14 Most Surprising Metacritic Scores Of 2017
6. Arms (77)
Back when Nintendo first announced Arms for the Switch, it seemed like a daft gimmick destined to score mixed reviews from critics, because how often are games centred around motion controls actually fun for more than a few hours?
Arms may not be one of the Switch's very best games, but it sure proved its doubters wrong, serving up a surprisingly deep and challenging beat 'em up experience, with some of the best online multiplayer on Nintendo's nifty hybrid console.
The motion controls actually work pretty well (though you can easily turn them off if not), it crackles visually and has far more to it than just being another gimmicky Nintendo motion control game like, say, 1-2 Switch (which, to the surprise of nobody, scored a mediocre 58).
