8. Mass Effect: Andromeda (71)
In terms of highly-anticipated entries into hugely acclaimed franchises falling flat on their faces, no game fell below expectations as spectacularly as Mass Effect: Andromeda, which was at least polite enough to offer up an EA Access trial a week ahead of release, allowing players to experience the mess for themselves.
Considering that the previous entries into the franchise scored anywhere from the mid-80s to the mid-90s, Andromeda scraping just 71 was a huge story that left the already-jaded fanbase at a total loss.
Launching with meme-worthy facial animations, an abundance of bugs, an underwhelming story and oddly repetitive gameplay, Andromeda failed to live up to the high standard set by its predecessors, causing EA to put the series "on ice".
Shortly after the game's release, reports emerged of its hurried, sloppy production, and while the series will definitely return one day, EA needs to think long and hard about how they reintroduce it to audiences (no microstransactions!).
