14 Simple Things That Could Ruin The Biggest Upcoming Video Games
9. It's Another Soulless "Live Service" Title - Halo Infinite
To the surprise of few who have been following its development, speculation recently ramped up that the upcoming Halo Infinite will be a "live service" game rather than a typical entry into the franchise.
That is to say, Infinite will focus on giving players an ever-evolving multiplayer experience to keep them playing for years on end and, yes, tempting them to dip into those inevitable, lucrative micro-transactions.
It's a natural direction for the series, really, and not one that necessarily needs to be harmful, but of course, video game publishers having the goals that they do, it's definitely a reason to approach the game with some caution.
After all, Halo 5's "Requisition" MTX system was widely pilloried by fans, and so a certain scepticism of Microsoft and 343 to include non-predatory paid content in Infinite is totally understandable.
Fingers are crossed that Infinite could turn out a fiendishly addictive looter shooter, but where corporations are concerned, always expect patent greed and cross your fingers for something better.
