14 Video Games That Prove Local Multiplayer Is The Best

3. Halo

The Halo series began when local multiplayer ruled the roost and its arrival ushered in a new era where playing through a campaign with your mate became just as popular as shooting their head off with a sniper rifle in multiplayer. Thankfully, Master Chief's outings have the habit of excelling at both kinds. There have been so many memorable moments from the Halo campaigns over the years that have been burned into our memories forever. That first time we all mounted up inside one Warthog and took off across the beach in the Silent Cartographer level made everyone realise Halo wasn't a typical shooter. Then there's playing as The Arbiter in Halo 2 and driving and shooting your way down Tsavo highway with your friends in Halo 3, just to name a few. Halo is just as fun online and offline, but the series continues to respect its heritage by supporting local multiplayer in some shape or form, much to the joy of old school, couch co-op loving gamers everywhere.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
