If there is one thing Assassin’s Creed has done well for the majority of the series, it’s the endings. And when it comes to the most memorable, most impactful, most tear-jerkingly perfect endings, then you must look no further than the ending to Black Flag.

The choice of music perfectly accentuates the sombre tone of the scene as you see the faces of all the main characters who didn’t make it this far. ‘The Parting Glass’ reflects the tone of the moment as Edward leaves behind all that he has and moves onto a more purposeful, meaningful life.

And beyond all the subtext, metaphorical meanings and character development, it’s just a damn beautiful moment. I challenge anyone to watch it and not get a little choked up. Just a damn perfect way to round off a great game.
