2. Pokémon Sword & Shield
Whether you’re an old fan of the franchise or a late comer to these amazing works of art, not much is better than a good Pokémon game.
Pokémon Sword and Shield gives you all of the nostalgia of your childhood while providing fixes for a lot of the problems which plagued the originals. Once again, the formula has been thrown out in a lot of regards as this game ditches its incredibly over-simplified and tedious tutorial and instead has you exploring the vast overworld incredibly early on.
Sick of walking through a patch of grass and knowing that there’s a likely chance that you’ll be attacked. Well, now those things can be more easily avoided as the exploration system in tandem with the amazing 3D graphics allow you to pick and choose what you fight a lot of the time.
The setting in inspired by the UK, and the graphics are phenomenal - on par with even the most beautiful games Nintendo has ever released. While the plotline might be standard for a Pokémon game, there’s over 40 hours’ worth of content just from the main objectives alone, not to mention a whole host of new aspects.
This game is just so streamlined, it deserves this number 2 spot.
