3. Fatal Frame/Project Zero
Another game in a similar vein to Forbidden Siren, in that the emphasis is based on more looming horror and little combat, Fatal Frame is another slice of Japanese horror.
Fatal Frame (or Project Zero as we know it in Europe) mixes third person exploration and first person non-combat. Using an antique camera, known as the Camera Obscura, it was the only means of capturing and pacifying ghosts in the mansion you're investigating.
Set in the 80's, the game had you searching for your missing sibling in said mansion, whilst encountering the malicious souls of those that have entered, and presumably perished, before you. Armed with your camera and a pseudo-sixth sense ability to locate nearby ghosts, the game wasn't above the odd jump scare as you lock your viewfinder on the spooks.
Paving the way for modern ideas seen in Outlast and its sequels, Fatal Frame is still a strong going series, with its last entry on the Wii U a few years ago. If you do still have a PS2 hooked up, it's worth checking out the first two, if you fancy playing some heritage spookers.
