15 Best Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)

3. The Last Of Us

Naughty Dog's latest remains not just a remarkable landmark for where that studio has come from across their 30 year tenure, but a benchmark in general for immersion, character design, graphical prowess and the ability to Christopher Nolan your game; leaving it on an interpretable cliffhanger-esque shot that's left fans debating everything in the years since. Even the Left Behind DLC for TLoU was fantastic, delving into protagonist Ellie's history and touching on a few key points as to why that aforementioned final scene meant so much, alongside filling out some more of her character motivations without taking away from the main drive of the original story. Main hero Joel remains one of veteran voice actor Troy Baker's finest, bringing to life a pained everyman who's constantly battling grief alongside a will to survive, projecting his former love for what he's left behind onto what's now surrounding him. It's truly a remarkable feat of design from one of the best teams in the business today, and although many critics rushed to label it gaming's 'Citizen Kane moment', it's everything that makes a game great as an artform alongside telling a story that'll resonate for years to come that'll make future generations look to this as their respective medium's 'Last of Us moment'.
